Over the past decade, our department has labored to transform our faculty. We currently have 14 full-time faculty members, all with professional specialties and almost all holding doctoral degrees: five professors, seven associate professors, two assistant professors. Over 30 part-time faculty members support teaching of some of our departmental courses as well as the university-required freshmen Chinese courses.

Through the endeavors and dedication of our professional faculty and talented staff, our department has built up a stable base, established a spirit of excellence and earned a good reputation in the field of teaching, research and service. Presently, our seven years of alumni – primarily employed in language teaching and cultural fields - are performing conscientiously, honorably and earning the approval of their supervisors.

The higher education environment is undergoing significant changes. Not only is the domestic university market increasingly competitive, with Taiwan’s entry into WTO, countless universities from overseas are now entering the market as well. Under these conditions, for our department to continue playing a role in preparing students, we have endeavored to expand our potential and launch out from our familiar neighborhoods into the global village, continuing to mature and strive for excellence.
